Light up Kismayo Campaign

Have you ever experienced a power outrage? If you did then, you understand how inconvenient it can be. In the first world, it is indeed something rare unless there is a weather related emergencies we have lights on 24/7. Now picture a region and its basic infrastructures without lights. A region where a student who happens to have a test tomorrow cannot study as he/she has no access to something as simple as a light. As we all know electricity is indispensable to society's progress.

After hearing tons of stories about the need for electricity in Jubaland, the project Light-Up Kismayo was born. Light-Up Kismayo is an initiative meant to provide solar lambs to the city of Kismayo and surrounding cities in Jubaland. Its aim is not only to deliver solar lambs, thus it is to deliver hope, aspirations, and a vision to rebuild Kismayo and all cities in this region.

Hospitals both in urban and rural areas consume a lot of energy throughout the day as the electrical equipment used directly or indirectly to treat patients require uninterrupted power usage in order to save lives. We plan to ensure that critical loads are always running such as life support machines, air conditioners, fans, refrigeration units and other lifesaving equipment.

This project is the idea of a group of passionate individuals from the Jubaland region who wanted to make a sustainable difference. As a community we have been putting out fires and responding to crisis for 2+ decades and we thought it was the right time to focus our efforts to an investment that’s sustainable in the long term. We plan to deliver 3,500 solar lambs to Jubaland on our first attempt and continue from there on.

This isn't a onetime initiative as we plan to continue to light up the whole region of Jubaland and move on to other regions in Somalia. This is a project that supports the poor, the needy, and anyone who have no access to electricity. We aren't providing solar lambs to public infrastructures alone, but rather we are providing it to those who have no means to obtain their own electricity.

We have chosen to partner with ARAHA because they align with our mission and values in return they will support our aspirations and hope. ARAHA have proven they understand and care about the community both locally and globally.

ARAHA as a humanitarian organization company are a leader in creating opportunities to provide solutions and a sustainable environment for generations as well as those to come. In addition to the benefits that will result from the solutions they will provide resources that’s needed to combat the electricity epidemic instead of simply putting a Band-Aid on solution. ARAHA will provide the means to fight this epidemic and will empower Jubaland regional community on their own through these sustainable solutions.

ARAHA will reach out and benefit not only the local community, but will inspire the global community as well. We encourage you to join us in partnering with this great humanitarian organization.
