ARAHA 2020 highlights | Overcoming COVID

Indeed, 2020 has been a challenging year, but together we navigated through this challenging time and weathered the storm.

You have helped us to make the best of it, and together we were able to continue our mission of empowering families across the Horn of Africa region. Here are some highlights of what we accomplish in 2020:
 
  • 1st Sand Dam construction completed in Ethiopia, the first of its kind for water retention scheme in the country
  • 700 food baskets distributed for families affected by the Zeila floods in Somaliland.
  • COVID-19 food baskets: thousands of families received food baskets and PPE in the region for ARAHA’s Covid-19 response program.
  • 25 high school graduates from a refugee camp got trained on vocational skills as mechanics for the betterment of their livelihoods and that of their families.
  • 500 food baskets distributed fro families affected by the floods in Sudan.
  • 100 families received two dairy goats each in Sudan.
  • ARAHA's shelter program helped 100 families affected by floods in Sudan providing them tents.
  • 16,000+ families received Mannapack rice and cooking oil across the region.
  • 157,000+ people received fresh beef or goat meat for cooking across the region.
  • 500 students benefited from the construction of a water catchment at Shegerab High School in Sudan
  • 6.4 million meals distributed across the Horn of Africa region with the help of our partners FMSC, Life for Relief and Development, and Rise Against Hunger.
  • 82 water wells serving over 90,000 people.
  • 1,900+ students benefited ARAHA's school lunch program in Somalia and Sudan
  • 4 containers of medical supplies to Somalia to support public hospitals and clinics in poor neighborhoods.
