We are National Honor Society students at Al-Amal School. We are raising funds to help refugee students with feminine hygiene products in Sudan. While most refugee camps provide refugees with basic necessities such as shelter, food and water,feminine hygiene is not provided and is often forgotten. As such, the female students at Shagarab refugee camp are left to deal with their periods by themselves.
Many female students at Shagarab refugee camp are missing about a week of school each month because they don't have access to feminine hygiene products. That is an average of 60 days ( two whole months) of missing school days in total. Because of that, the girls are forced to miss tests and important information that they are supposed to learn in class by not attending school while on their periods.
That’s why we are taking the initiative to make sure no girl should miss school because of her period. It is very important to understand that feminine hygiene products are not luxury items, they are basic human necessities. Our goal is to raise $2500 (each package of pads costs about $10) so the girls at the refugee camp will not miss a single day of school due to lack of feminine hygiene products.
