Last year Zahro Mohamed created our student group, Students Devoted to Marginalized Communities (SDMC), and it was because of her devotion that it was incredibly successful. Her passion was contagious and inspired those around her. She was the oldest daughter of her family and a determined college student. When she tragically passed away in January of 2019, the community’s hearts grieved - inna lillahi wa inna illahi raji'un. The past board and current board of SDMC want to ensure that the memory of Zahro is not lost. We invite you to join us in honoring her memory by building a well in Somalia. She was someone who always had the welfare of others in mind and wanted to give back to her community. Zahro was also committed to East Africa and her home country, so we believe this would be a beautiful and rewarding tribute - and a token of remembrance and appreciation from her loved ones to her.
Join us in an effort that may benefit many in this life and Zahro in the next, insha’Allah.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” Sahih Muslim 2588
